A mob of Kashmiri rage boys
surrounded an Army patrol on foot and assaulted them with deadly force. Army personnel
resorted to firing in order to protect the life and limb of the Jawans. One of the rage boys died in the melée - motivating the latest round of drama and breast beating by the young Abdullah.
What were the Jawans supposed to do? Chant the Gandhian mantra of "Ahimsa",
lay down their arms and offer their heads for decapitation and carrying off to Pakistan as war trophies?
Omar Abdullah's tears notwithstanding - the Army patrol's action was absolutely correct and appropriate.
